The British Music Experience (BME) has announced Sir Sir Peter Blake as its first formal patron of the museum.

Blake is widely recognised for creating the artwork for recording artists including The Beatles, Band Aid, Paul Weller and Oasis, as well as designing the 2012 BRIT Award statue, and he commented 'I am delighted to be able to support the British Music Experience in their task to archive, celebrate and collect the nation's popular music heritage for generations to come and Liverpool is of course a fitting city to call its home. I am looking forward to assisting the Trust and being part of the vision to permanently have a museum in the UK dedicated to popular music'.
